Success Story of Md. Golam Mostafa – Moyna F1 Bitter Gourd Farmer Md. Golam Mostafa, a dedicated farmer from Batason village, Moyenpur Union, Mithapukur, Rangpur, cultivates Bitter gourd with the support of his wife, Mariyam Begum, and their two sons. Previously, he grew local varieties, but for the past three years, he has been cultivating Moyna F1 Bitter Gourd from Lal Teer, achieving remarkable success. This year, he cultivated 25 decimals of land, harvested 600 kg, and earned 18,000 Taka, spending only 8,000 Taka on fertilizer, weeding, and pesticides. He first learned about Moyna F1 from a Lal Teer field officer and started on a small plot. Encouraged by the excellent yield, he expanded cultivation over the last two years. According to Mostafa, Moyna F1 offers several advantages: 1. 50% higher yield than local varieties 2. Mild bitterness and great taste 3. Suitable for year-round cultivation 4. Fruit weight of 150–160 grams 5. Harvestable within 40–45 days Even during Super Cyclone Amphan, his Moyna F1 crop remained green and undamaged, allowing him to sell at a better price. He expects to harvest 8–10 more times, totaling 1,280–1,400 kg, and earn around 50,000 Taka. Mostafa plans to expand cultivation in the future and dreams of providing quality education for his sons.
